Beautiful Rye!
A little trip to Rye and the best sticky toffee pudding
Every now and again a group of us friends try and get away for a night or two for a bit of relaxation, good food and yes wine. This time when we managed to get a date in the diary (trust me thats the most difficult part) we thought of going to Rye, a small town in Kent. 4 out of 8 of us had not been before so it was very exciting.
So this post is me sharing the few places we stopped by and loved, rude not to share in case you are planning a visit anytime soon.
These places either came recommended by friends or google.
The first place I always try and find is a good coffee shop, the essentials and I found a great one, right as you enter the town, called the Ground Up coffee shop. Great coffee, very welcoming, full of locals getting their morning coffee. Highly recommend.
Next up some food and we stopped for some brunch at The Fig. It was packed and after a 5 minute wait we got a table and the food was fresh, seasonal and delicious and so was the coffee. The menu only had 6 main dishes for brunch, just 6 and I could have eaten any of those 6 dishes, that is how good it all sounded.
Then it was time for some dinner and this place came recommended so when I checked the website for booking a table I loved the look of the place, cozy, warm and great menu too. We might have had some wine, which was great by the way, cocktails not so much but the food was amazing. The starters were fab, the mains were good and the pudding, oh the pudding was the best sticky toffee pudding I have ever had in a restaurant, just amazing. So if you are in the area then you know where to book for dinner, the Globe Inn Marsh.
It also happened to be the Scallop festival that weekend and while we were out on a walk we found out that about the Fish market so we wandered there. It was a little glimpse of what the place will be like in the summer, lots of families out for a drink and some lunch. The market was not prepared for such a big turnout, which meant a long wait for the food but thankfully they were selling wine too.
One last place we stopped by was the famous hot chocolate shop, Knoops! The first dedicated hot chocolate shop I have ever been too, you could choose from a variety of chocolates and yes jazz it up as you wish. I bought some chocolate flakes to make some at home too.
And that really was it, a short 2 day trip to Rye, few meals out and few meals we cooked ourselves, games, drinks, walks and a catch up with mates, another memorable one!

Lovely to get away with good friends! Everything looked delicious!
Sounds wonderful. Interesting food, good weekend for the girls! :))
